The Court of Cassation has upheld the sentences for the nautical incident linked to the tragic event that occurred in the Gulf of Salò during the night between June 19 and 20, 2021. Patrick Kassen, who was at the helm of the Riva speedboat, and Christian Teismann, the owner of the vessel, have had their penalties confirmed: four years and six months for Kassen and two years and eleven months for Teismann. However, the ruling for the confiscation of the speedboat has been annulled, with this aspect being referred back to the Court of Appeal in Brescia.
The appeal filed by the lawyers of the two German tourists has resulted in the definitive validation of the sentences from both the first and second instances. The incident involved Greta Nedrotti and Umberto Garzarella, who were on the boat that was struck by the speedboat. This ruling marks a significant step in the legal proceedings surrounding the nautical incident that has shaken the local community.
