The Caritas of Rivoltella inaugurated a new solidarity shop on January 12, marking the end of the traditional food parcel service that has assisted numerous families in need for years. The new free minimarket, opened in the presence of the Bishop of Verona, Monsignor Domenico Pompili, offers essential food items and detergents. To shop, users must use a card loaded with points, which are deducted based on the selected products. The initiative serves 203 families and over 477 individuals, with a significant percentage of elderly users among them.
During the inauguration, Bishop Pompili emphasized how this space fosters meaningful relationships among people. Don Alberto Giusti described the shop as a welcoming place where users can shop with dignity rather than simply receiving parcels. Mayor Guido Malinverno praised Caritas for its commitment to supporting those in need through this innovative and virtuous project. Over 100 volunteers are involved in the operation of the shop, ensuring effective support for the local community.
