Salò Pastoral Change Monsignor Farina: New Parish Priest at the Duomo

Salò Pastoral Change Monsignor Farina is taking place as Monsignor Leonardo Farina (65 years old) steps in as the new parish priest of Salò, succeeding Monsignor Gian Luigi Carminati (69 years old), who leaves after ten years of pastoral leadership.
Mons. Carminati, ordained in 1984, has been assigned by Bishop Tremolada of Brescia as festive presbyter for several communities and chaplain at the Santuario delle Grazie in Brescia. In early October, Mons. Leonardo Farina—formerly parish priest in Maderno, Toscolano, and member of the Episcopal Council—will officially enter the Duomo of Salò.
Reflecting on contemporary trends, Pino Mongiello notes how religious topics receive less attention on social media amidst declining church attendance. Citing ACLI data showing Sunday mass attendance at 9.1% in Italy, he references Pope Francis’ call regarding an epochal change.
Citing Cardinal Giulio Bevilacqua’s famous assertion that ‘A Christian is one who commits oneself,’ Mongiello emphasizes that Christianity cannot remain a passive cultural habit. The new parish priest will require authentic community solidarity and active lay participation in fulfilling his new mission.
