Salò Summer Event to Feature Francesco De Gregori in Lakeside Gardens
Francesco De Gregori will be the star of the summer events in Salò, in the gardens of the Liceo, along the lakeside. This was announced by the mayor, Giampiero Cipani, who, overwhelmed with emotion, even confused him with De Gregorio, like the legendary supporting cyclist in Ugo Tognazzi’s sketch. “We are well advanced in the drafting of the schedule,” said the mayor. “As for the Summer music event of the western Riviera, that will still be managed by the Comunità del Garda.” After Giorgia, Franco Battiato, and Ivano Fossati, who arrived in 2000, it will be De Gregori’s turn this year, coming to sing his “Cuoco di Salò.” “And here Italy is made and people die. From the wrong side, on a great day. And people die. If this lake water were seawater, how many fish could I cook tonight? Even the chef can be useful, in a storm. Even amid a shipwreck, you have to eat.” The overall uniform. During the council meeting, there was also a humorous interlude: “I am a worker-mayor, because I stay in the municipality all day and sometimes even at night,” exclaimed Cipani, paraphrasing Silvio Berlusconi, during one of the last council meetings. The other evening, before the session began, the Democratic Party member Vincenzo Zambelli, a mechanic, gave him a brand-new blue jumpsuit. Clean, without a stain of oil. “I accept it as motivation to work even harder,” replied the mayor, who kept it on the table until the end of the long evening.
The reshuffle and new entries in the council
As announced some time ago, the City Council has changed its composition. Here is the official update. Giuseppe Mongiello, former leader between Riccardo Marchioro and Giovanni Cigognetti, former Literature teacher at the “Battisti” Technical Institute, and since last December president of the Comunità del Garda, has resigned from his role as assessor for Public Education and Culture. He will continue to lead the Civic Drawing Collection, which is also financially supported by the Provincial Administration. “There comes a time when you have to step back,” said Mongiello. “The new role gratifies me. I remain a simple councilor. I will try to be as present as possible, in a spirit of solidarity with the center-right majority.” Nicola Scotti, responsible for Budget and Urban Police, has been promoted to deputy mayor. Geometra Gabriele Cominotti, engaged to the mayor’s daughter, has doubled his responsibilities: in addition to Sport, he now also covers Public Education. Cipani, on the other hand, took on Culture. New entry: geometra Alberto Colombo, assessor for Environment. He will handle ecology, parks, agriculture, relations with the special company Garda Uno for waste disposal, and more. Some adjustments outside the council have also been made. Alberto Marino, general practitioner, has been appointed president of the Archaeological Museum, now housed behind the Iat office, which, as the mayor stated, “we would like to move to the Fondaco Coen, near the library, transforming it into the Lake Garda Museum, creating a conference room and a multimedia space for school groups.” Cominotti and Barbara Botti joined the statutes and regulations commission.
The vineyard
An increase in the volumetric expansion has been granted to Sergio Bassetti’s hotel-restaurant, La Vigna, located along the lakeside. Additional rooms will be built. The Town Plan allowed for an increase of 560 cubic meters, but the project, approved by the Comunità montana and the Local Health Authority (Azienda Sanitaria Locale), was initially rejected by the Environmental Services of the Region. The proposed height increase, although modest, was disproportionate compared to nearby buildings. The building, urban planning, and environmental experts (Mauro Armellini and Marco Mozzi) subsequently conducted numerous inspections, studying a softer integration. Ultimately, approval was granted (unanimous vote by all councilors), with the obligation to “align the building profile with the slopes of the Duomo.” The height extension of the hotel will be slightly set back, and the roof ridge lowered. The Comunità montana established a series of conditions.”
