Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing the scams

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and promptly notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

if they seek money, tend to disappear without further contact.
