Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Region: How to Recognize Offenders
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, proposing subscriptions to magazines associated with the force.
These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
Recognizing scams
They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by individuals who,
if they have money, no longer appear in sight.
