Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda to Promote Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the arm‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, fire brigades, or Municipal vigilantes.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, disappears.
