Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone contacts with hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to army magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be from the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police.
Recognizing the scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by someone who,
if they are after money, will no longer show up.
