Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Area Businesses
They impersonate Carabinieri when making telephone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.
How to Recognize Scams
They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to the law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
if they wanted money, would no longer show themselves.
