Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions in Garda
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, the police, fire brigades, or the Municipal police.
How to recognize scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
has money but no longer makes their presence known.
