Scammers Pose as Carabinieri in Garda Region to Trick Hoteliers and Shops
They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to the arma magazines.
These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune wardens.
How to Recognize Scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri—simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,
if they have money, will no longer show themselves.
