New wartime ordnance, possibly dating back to World War II, has been found in the waters off the coast of Desenzano. This discovery was made during a dive conducted by Matteo Viviani, a journalist for the TV show “Le Iene,” who was in the area investigating the “Fattori case,” involving a fine imposed on Enzo Fattori, a volunteer involved in cleaning the beaches of Desenzano.
The two explosive devices and a pistol were found between Vo’ and the Lega Navale and immediately reported to the authorities and local law enforcement. This is not the first time that wartime remnants have been found in the waters of Lake Garda. Last January, numerous bullets and grenades were discovered near Porto Vecchio and the outer dam.
In the coming days, removal operations will be carried out in collaboration with the Army and Navy bomb disposal experts to ensure the safety of the area. The explosives will need to be detonated to neutralize them safely.
These clearance operations are crucial to ensure the safety of swimmers and workers along the shores of Lake Garda. The presence of wartime ordnance poses a serious danger to anyone who comes into contact with them.
