The review Libramente Montichiari, organized by the Department of Culture, is set to conclude 2025 with a special event dedicated to Franz Kafka. On Saturday, December 6, at 4:30 PM, at the Lechi Museum, a graphic novel will be presented that explores Kafka’s figure in relation to the International Air Circuit of September 1909, an important event that took place in the Montichiari moor and featured the first flights of aircraft from that era. Curators Sergio Comini and Lorenzo Gafforini will discuss the work, which promises to offer a new interpretation of Kafka’s experiences in the Brescia region. The story begins on September 9, 1909, when a young Kafka, on vacation in Riva del Garda with friends Max and Otto Brod, reads about the aerial competition in La sentinella bresciana. Excited about the event, they decide to travel to Brescia, where Kafka will have the opportunity to meet notable figures such as Gabriele D’Annunzio and Giacomo Puccini. At Brod’s suggestion, Kafka will write an article about the experience, published in the Prague newspaper Bohemia. The graphic novel not only illustrates the original text but also provides a visual reinterpretation of the events and emotions Kafka experienced during that significant time. Italian Version
