The Krampus will make their debut in Tremosine sul Garda on Sunday, December 7, coinciding with the Polenta Festival, an event that celebrates local culinary traditions. From 4:30 PM to 6 PM, these demonic creatures, characterized by frightening masks and horns, will parade between Piazza Marconi and Piazza Cozzaglio, bringing with them the unsettling atmosphere typical of Alpine festivities. This event represents a cultural exchange, as the Krampus originate from the Trentino tradition, where they punish naughty children during the Christmas season. The Polenta Festival will kick off at 3:30 PM with a performance by the “Piume del Garda” bersaglieri band and will offer participants a “merendöla” featuring mulled wine and traditional sweets. The event will culminate in the parade of the Krampus through the historic center, followed by the opening of food stalls at 6:30 PM. Lucia Perini, the president of the Pro Loco, emphasized that this custom is not local but reflects the nearby traditions of Trentino, enhanced by the presence of local members in the group of Krampus from Val Rendena.
