Lake Garda’s “Symbol & Symbol” Event Returns with Ferraris and Riva Boats
The event returns to Lake Garda with “Symbol & Symbol,” renewed, updated, and most notably expanded: this is how the second edition of “Symbol & Symbol” presents itself, the acclaimed event that marked last summer on Lake Garda, whose stars were undoubtedly the magnificent Riva boats and the dreamed-of and often envied Ferraris, including Michael Schumacher’s F399 used during the 1999 Formula 1 season.
The event is scheduled for July 27, 28, and 29 in the locations of central and lower Garda, including Desenzano, Sirmione, Padenghe, Gardone Riviera, and Montichiari. Once again, the streets and waters of Garda will be flooded with these exemplars that have made, and still do today, the history of Italian entrepreneurship.
Boats and cars, objects of cult and admiration that have driven millions of enthusiasts crazy, whether owners or simply admirers of these national icons. In the water, Riva boats, originally made of wood, now crafted in carbon fiber and resin, adapting to modern times and costs.
Ferraris, on the other hand, are objects of desire that stir the senses with their thunderous appearance. All these vehicles, both current and past, will be within reach for two days to be admired: almost simultaneously, Riva in the water and Ferraris on land, will color the squares and ports of Rosso or Mogano.
Locations and itinerary of the event
Desenzano, with its old port and adjacent square, will serve as the reference point for this event, which will move in an almost itinerant fashion to Gardone Riviera on the evening of the 27th, at the house of a beloved and hated figure, Gabriele d’Annunzio, a great lover of cars and much more.
Here, in addition to guided tours, there will be a dinner inside the gardens, by candlelight, enveloped by the “unparalleled atmosphere,” as well as by sweet music that, according to Curzio Moretti, organizer of this event, will make the evening unforgettable.
On Saturday the 28th, at 10:00 a.m., an appointment for both Riva boats and Ferraris at the Porto Vecchio in Desenzano and Piazza Malvezzi. After the evolution of jet aircraft, at 1:00 p.m., participants will depart for Porto Marina West Garda in Padenghe for lunch.
At the end, a parade with sfilata through the centers of Salò and Gardone Riviera, with a floating platform at 4:30 p.m. along the lakeside promenade of Salò, followed by the promenade along the lakeside of Gardone Riviera. In the evening, a gala dinner at the evocative and surreal “Vittoriale” restaurant in Montichiari, and from 10:15 p.m. onward, the “Medieval Night” in the park of Montichiari Castle Bonoris.
Sunday morning, events will take place at the port and in the square in front of the Sirmione Scaliger Castle, with an aperitif for participants inside the castle itself and a buffet under the shade of the towers.
In the early afternoon, everyone will regroup again in Desenzano, on the lakeside: for Ferraris, at the Porto; for Riva boats, on the lakeside. Here, the racing phases of the “Hockenheim Grand Prix” inside the Palazzo del Turismo will be followed.
For this second edition, the Casa della Rossa in Maranello, Ferrari, has confirmed the presence of the Ferrari F300, the 2000 Formula One World Champion, on Saturday and Sunday.
Finally, there will be the handing out of the “Symbol & Symbol” commemorative plaque, farewells, and thanks, before everyone heads home.
It’s worth mentioning that, on this occasion, Poste Italiane decided to issue a Special Philatelic Cancellation, which will take place in Piazza Malvezzi on Saturday, July 28.
The organization will also distribute free postcards to be stamped and canceled with a special postmark.
Acccompanying the various convivial gatherings around the tables will be wines from another “Symbol” of Garda, Cantine Visconti of Desenzano del Garda.
