Fake Carabinieri Scams in Garda Area: How to Protect Yourself

They pose as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the middle and upper Garda area, proposing magazine subscriptions on behalf of the Corps.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be affiliated with finance authorities, police, firefighters, or urban police officers.

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately notify the carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear without a trace.
