They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to fictitious magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

So be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear and do not return.
