Garda Scammers Posing as Carabinieri, Warns Police Authorities

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to the force’s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to financial authorities, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having money, disappears and is no longer visible.
