Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to police magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune wardens.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, disappears and no longer shows up.
