Garda Scam Alert: Carabinieri Impersonators Target Local Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to the army-related magazines.

These individuals are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be affiliated with finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by people who,

after obtaining money, stop appearing or making contact.
