Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Businesses in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, proposing magazine subscriptions from the forces.

These are not military personnel but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to non-existent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, beware and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, disappears and is no longer visible.
