Carabinieri Impersonators Target Garda Businesses in Scamming Attempts

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Comune’s police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — call 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
