Scammers Impersonate Police to Fraudulently Sell Magazines in Garda Area

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, proposing subscriptions to the arms magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri— simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, no longer appear.
