Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Area Scam

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri— just dial 112— as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, no longer make themselves available or appear again.
