Steel Plants in Calvisano Partner with AB to Transition to Biogas for Decarbonization

Calvisano-based Feralpi Group’s steel plant has signed its first local biogas supply contract with AB Ambiente, marking a significant step in decarbonizing Brescia’s manufacturing sector. The agreement, supported by Confindustria Brescia and the Ramet Consortium through the Italian Biogas Consortium, covers initial biometano supplies estimated at 10-20% of the company’s energy needs, depending on regulatory and production factors.

The deal involves technical teams from both companies, with Feralpi’s CEO Giovanni Pasini emphasizing its role in the group’s ESG strategy to reduce carbon footprint through biometano use and process electrification. AB Ambiente’s president Angelo Baronchelli highlighted the agreement’s focus on short supply chains and collaboration among agriculture, industry, and associations, facilitated by Confindustria Brescia.
