The Diecimiglia del Garda, now in its 52nd edition, showcased the dominance of Kenyan athletes in the cross-country race held on the Navazzo plateau in Gargnano. The event, organized by Gs Montegargnano and part of the national Fidal calendar, witnessed a change at the top with Simon Ekidor from Atletica Potenza Picena winning, defeating the reigning champion Castor Mogeni with a record time of 51’48” over a distance of 16 km. In the women’s category, Mercy Jebichii lived up to expectations, finishing solo with a time of 1:01:05, followed by Aurilia Jerotich Kiptui and Verona’s Ariana Lutteri.
This edition saw approximately 39 athletes participating in the competition, which is now also open to Masters. Among the participants, Renato Tosi from Atl. Paratico stood out, finishing eighth overall with a time of 59:13, while Daniele Pini from Gs Montegargnano finished eleventh in 1:00:31. In the 5-mile race dedicated to Masters, Vittorio Bertoli from Atletica Gavardo ’90 took first place with a time of 31:17. The day proved ideal for cross-country running enthusiasts, further solidifying the region’s sporting tradition.
