On the afternoon of Monday, June 2nd, a tragic incident occurred at Baia Bianca, where a 53-year-old German tourist passed away after suffering a medical emergency while swimming. The man had entered the water to cool off but soon lost consciousness. Other beachgoers quickly alerted emergency services, which responded promptly with personnel from the 118 emergency medical service, the Garda Volunteers, air rescue, and a patrol boat from the Salò Coast Guard.
Despite resuscitation attempts made on the shore using a defibrillator, the tourist could not be saved. Authorities are now investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal medical emergency.
