Alto Mantovano Healthcare Forum Highlights Hospital Safety and Reorganization
The evening dedicated to healthcare in Alto Mantovano saw a large audience, confirming the strong interest in the topic.
Guest of honor was Pier Sandro Colombo, General Director of Azienda Poma. After President Novazzi read a document expressing concern and Avanzi, responsible for public protection at ASL, spoke, Angelo Foschini, General Director of Azienda Ospedaliera di Desenzano, took the floor.
Positions on healthcare and the San Pellegrino hospital
“The San Pellegrino hospital should not be dismantled,” he stated, “because residents of Castiglione will instead go to Brescia or Desenzano, not to Asola or Mantova. It seems absurd to close the maternity ward.”
The official, emphasizing the merits of the regional health law, also called for maximum attention to the Opg, which for years has been a model of care at national and international levels.
Corporate reorganization and critical issues
Colombo, starting from the premise of a heavy corporate debt, indicated that his goal is to reorganize the hospital according to a departmental model.
The director addressed issues such as the exacerbation of localisms, fragmentation of the hospital, and the lack of unified management tools for expenditure.
Security issues and offered services
Regarding the out-of-province exodus of patients, he was clear: “It’s not due to a lack of services, since patients are admitted elsewhere in departments that are present here. This suggests that there is a lack of safety and quality in the services.”
More concrete reassurances against the reduction of departments at San Pellegrino were requested by Luca Placidi, President of the Health Committee, who called for the final launch of the Emergency and Admission Department.
Speeches and debates
Among those who spoke during the debate was regional councilor Lucchini from Forza Italia.
