The Autumn Sun shines in Arco with the inauguration of the exhibition “Autumn Sun. The Rediscovered Masterpiece,” which took place last Friday at the civic gallery. This event marked the return to the public of a work by Giovanni Segantini, painted in 1887, after seventy years of absence. The ceremony featured speeches from local authorities, including Mayor Alessandro Betta and the Vice President of the Province, Francesca Gerosa, who announced plans to transform Villa Angerer into a museum dedicated to Segantini and Gianni Caproni. The acquisition of the painting, valued at 3 million euros, represents a significant cultural investment for the city.
The exhibition will be open until January 26, allowing visitors to admire one of the finest masterpieces of Segantini’s painting, which was last exhibited in 1954. During the inauguration, curator Niccolò D’Agati emphasized the importance of the work in Segantini’s artistic journey, while the mayor highlighted how this event represents a historic moment for Arco. The civic gallery has already initiated international collaborations to further promote the art of the painter associated with the city.
