Brawls and Bullying in Salò: Authorities Step Up Beach Patrols

Fighting and bullying on the beach in Salò has returned to the spotlight after the opposition council group *Città Futura Salò* issued an open letter alleging harassment and aggressive behavior by teenagers, often of foreign origin. The letter says that on July 9 two groups of adolescents confronted each other at the “Rive,” causing fear among people present, and calls on Mayor Francesco Cagnini and the local police to increase checks, identify those involved, report them to social services in their home municipalities, and apply a *DASPO* where applicable.

In response, the municipal administration said it has already taken action over the past two years and outlined additional summer measures. These include daily patrols in the Rive–Mulino area with at least three afternoon passes (more than 60 recorded from June 15 to July 9), weekend monitoring at the station, and extending evening-to-early-morning services until 2:00 a.m. six days a week with three daily shifts. The city also cited cooperation with the Carabinieri, Coast Guard, and Guardia di Finanza, an extension of an agreement with the National Association of Carabinieri for market-area surveillance, and discussions with the Basin Authority to expand video surveillance to the Sirena port area, while accusing the opposition of amplifying the incidents for visibility.
