Desenzano: Immersion in Prehistory through Virtual Reality
The Rambotti Museum in Desenzano has launched a new immersive experience that allows visitors to live as a prehistoric man for six minutes. Thanks to virtual reality technology, participants can explore the daily activities of the inhabitants of the pile dwellings, embarking on a journey into the past that recreates the life of one of the oldest agricultural communities in Europe, active between 3800 BC and 1500 BC.
The initiative was introduced through the short film “Ancient Traces: Life in a Pile Dwelling,” produced by Ett Spa and commissioned by the Municipality of Desenzano as part of the “UNESCO Pile Dwellings” project. This innovative proposal, which combines history and technology, is part of a network of seven other towns in Northern Italy dedicated to enhancing the value of alpine pile dwelling sites. The short film will also be screened at the Rovereto Archaeology Memory Film Festival in October, highlighting the importance of using new technologies in cultural promotion.
