Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Region for Scams
They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to army magazines.
They are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to be part of the financial police, police force, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
Recognizing scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by those who,
if they had money, no longer show themselves.
