Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazines in Garda Area
They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in Medio and Alto Garda, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the force.
They are not actual military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, firefighters, or municipal police.
How to Recognize Scams
They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
if they have money, tend to disappear.
