Sustainable mobility was the focus of a meeting convened by the Province of Brescia, in response to the issues that arose during the recent May 1st holiday in Sirmione, where chaotic access to Lake Garda was reported. The Vice President responsible for Local Public Transport, Fabio Rolfi, emphasized the importance of enhancing public transport in the area through targeted and innovative interventions, such as on-demand services, involving mayors and local stakeholders for a shared planning approach.
The President of the Province, Emanuele Moraschini, highlighted how ease of movement can bring significant benefits, but reiterated that sustainability must remain a fundamental principle in decisions regarding the territory. This initiative aims not only to improve the quality of life for residents but also to attract a growing number of environmentally conscious tourists from Northern Europe. Raising awareness about the use of public transport will be crucial in promoting a more responsible and environmentally friendly mobility in the region.
