On February 11th, a violent incident shook the quiet town of Torri del Benaco. Two Italian university students, a 21-year-old girl and a 26-year-old boy, brutally attacked a 29-year-old Eritrean waiter at the end of his shift, robbing him of his personal belongings.
On the morning of May 15th, the local Carabinieri, with the support of the Venice Mestre and Verona companies, arrested the two young individuals based on an order issued by the Judge of the Verona Court. This order is the result of a meticulous investigation coordinated by the Verona Public Prosecutor’s Office.
The investigations allowed the Carabinieri to reconstruct the incident: the victim was surprised at the end of his work shift, restrained, and repeatedly struck by the two assailants who then quickly fled with the stolen items. Thanks to the intensive investigative work, enough evidence was gathered to incriminate the two students.
The evidentiary framework constructed by the investigators was shared by the Verona Judicial Authority. The Judge at the Verona Court therefore decided to issue the order for the precautionary custody under house arrest for both suspects. After the necessary bureaucratic procedures, the two young individuals were placed under house arrest in their respective residences in Mestre and Verona.
The investigation continues under the supervision of the competent Judicial Authority.
